SWEETLY cover Pearce_Sweetly_PB

SWEETLY is a companion book to SISTERS RED, and a retelling of Hansel and Gretel.

Twelve years ago, Gretchen, her twin sister, and her brother went looking for a witch in the forest. They found something. Maybe it was a witch, maybe a monster, they aren’t sure—they were running too fast to tell. Either way, Gretchen’s twin sister was never seen again.

Years later, after being thrown out of their house, Gretchen and Ansel find themselves in Live Oak, South Carolina, a place on the verge of becoming a ghost town. They move in with Sophia Kelly, a young and beautiful chocolatier owner who opens not only her home, but her heart to Gretchen and Ansel.

Yet the witch isn’t gone—it’s here, lurking in the forests of Live Oak, preying on Live Oak girls every year after Sophia Kelly’s infamous chocolate festival. But Gretchen is determined to stop running from witches in the forest, and start fighting back. Alongside Samuel Reynolds, a boy as quick with a gun as he is a sarcastic remark, Gretchen digs deeper into the mystery of not only what the witch is, but how it chooses its victims. Yet the further she investigates, the more she finds herself wondering who the real monster is, and if love can be as deadly as it is beautiful.

I have a short little question here, so this story doesn’t have any of the characters from Sisters Red in it? ( i know that Samuel R. is but anyone else?)Not Scarlett or her sister or Sylas?

I kinda stumbled upon Sisters Red and the local lIbrary. I do enjoy a good horror novel. And I love a good werewolf book. But I gotta admit I kinda cringe at alot of what passes for horror novels now. I mean to be frank, I can stand that Vampire romance stuff that everyone seems to love now. To be fair, those books are not meant for me. Im pretty sure Im not you target reader as well. But i still found your novel. The cover kinda stood out I guess. I was kinda embarresed to check it out. Im mean lets face it I am over 30 black man checking out Sisters Red. But I braved the odd looks I got and checked out any way. 47 pages later I returned it to said library. Got in the car went to Barnes and Nobles and paid for it. Worth every single penny. Thank you for a hell of a book. I wont be as shy when I pick up Sweetly. I hope anyway.

I know! the whole, “i want to read about vampires-who-love-you-but desperately-want-to- suck-your-blood and who sparkle in the sun,” thing isn’t really my cup of tea either…. and respect to you that you braved some weird looks to get possibly one of THE BEST books ever!

yeah Twilight sucked ass bigtime… why couldnt he just drink human blood lie to her, and then kill her in the end? would have made a much better read!

I’ve wanted to buy Sister’s Red for FOREVER! If Barnes & Noble isn’t out, I’m buying it TONIGHT along with Mark Twain’s autobiography.

It’s really easy to find, like anywhere, or you could just order it… i got it when it came out!
PS i love your name, the “Perfect” guy in my head has the name michael, and i’m begining to wonder if you’re hot!

You do realize she’s female, right?

Anyway, I loved “As you wish” and “Sisters Red” and there’s no way I’m not gonna buy “Sweetly”, too.
Unfortunately, pre-ordering from Germany is not possible yet. Or, at least if you do, you’ll get it in October. Which sucks.
But I guess I waited this long, I’ll be able to hold out two months longer ;)

I think that once Sweetly comes out that I’d want to read Sister’s Red, I almost read it but then put it back and regret ever doing it, fairytales fascinate me so much and I can’t wait to eventually read them both!! <3 By the way I love your name it is quite charming :)

I received Sweetly at an English Teacher’s convention I went to. It is the unpublished, unedited copy of the book. It is a wonderful story. I read the whole book in one day! I was very impressed. I teach 9th graders, and I am sure that a lot of my students will really like this book. I’ve never read any other book by this author, but judging by this book, I am excited about reading her others. I love the idea of taking an old story like Hansel & Gretel and making it into a modern tale. SO GOOD!!!

I positively adore this book. I got the ARC book, it’s wonderful! My mom gave it to me, and as soon as I opened it I couldn’t put it down! I loved it because I am pretty good at guessing the twists and turns of a book, and how it ends, but I guessed wrong this time, it was a complete suprise! Keep writing! I love your stories.

Thanks, Sawyer

I read Sister’s Red, and decided to comment on that book’s page about it, but wow. I can’t wait to read the book! It sounds amazing. I like how it’s plot is from the original fairytale, not Disney. You know, your book comes out right in time, because I’m going to Paris, and I could read your book during the flight! Yes! That’s it! Anyway, can’t wait!

I bought the book Yesterday and finished it today and i truly loved it. The story is remarkable and truly an amazing companion book for sister’s red. I can truly feel Sophia Kelly’s emotions jump off the page and i find myself smiling when she does. I love the way you used the Sea shells. The characters are amazing the book is EPIC!! Great work.

I bought Sweetly on Friday – planned on reading it slowly during the weekend at my cottage – and I ended up finishing it the same day. I loved it. Throughout the whole book
I
Just
Smiled.
Although I have to admit I was a bit disappointed on the choice of the antagonists (not spoiling anything) because I was looking forward to finding out what type of demon-type thing the Witch was. I wasn’t expecting you to use the same old but with a change of eye color. However, I came to accept them and liked the added lore to the species (and I’m starting to use this new knowledge to make a theory about Fathomless.)

Just wanted to say that I’m a fan of your Sisters Red series. I just read Sweetly. I read it all in a couple of days. I could’ve finished it sooner if it weren’t for college papers. Darn them. However, as soon as I read the last sentence I hated myself for rushing. The characters were all interesting. I liked that the Fenris are present. I thought it tied everything together nicely. All that talk about candy made it impossible to diet. I live in South Carolina, about an hour from Charleston, so I liked that I recognized many of the places that were mentioned. Live Oak reminds me of the town where my Great-grandma lives. Your books are awesomely addicting. I can’t wait for Fathomless!

P.S. I laughed out loud when I saw my name among the missing Live Oak girls. XD
